Hello Bruno, the bsr transfer was something i was missing.I had only the message transfer on my list and we create a alias for the bareos user to an external email. This was the starting point of the search because we expected to receive the mails via the bareos user.
Added the mail address to the catalog job, thanks for the info. Best Silvio Am 10.02.25 um 09:46 schrieb Bruno Friedmann (bruno-at-bareos):
You might forget that this specific email is about transfering the important data which are contained into the .bsr attachment outside of the system :-)Keeping it is local /var/spool/mail is not the best way to set a disaster recovery setup for your Bareos installation... You can comment that line if you don't need bsr (can be in specific installation). You can write bsr to somewhere in the filesystem you know it is not localYou can use whatever script you want to send that bsr information somewhere you store your external catalog copy.Regards. so the bsr is completely disconnected of the user and messagingsetting root as user is an old practice because all system should have a valid and working root messaging destination. On Monday, 10 February 2025 at 09:33:16 UTC+1 Silvio Schloeffel wrote: Hello Bruno, thanks for the response. I found the part in the config but I was a little bit suprised about root as standard receiver. I mean bareos has it's own user and I would have expected that this user will be the standard receiver and I (personally) don't think it's a good idea to mix info mails from daemons into the root (system) messages. Only a question of understanding: Why is a standard receiver configured if you can read all the mail via bconsole? If you want to receive the infos by mail you should follow the documentation. You have the messages now a local mailfile in /var/spool/mail /username and a second via console.
