Aaaaah, so with an autochanger it's fine, because the autochanger immediately begins the tape-change operation and the polling timeout does not occur. I didn't realize that you were using an autochanger rather than a single drive. This does seem to confirm that this bug occurs only when using a single drive, which is probably why it slipped through testing - almost all of the testing now seems to make the assumption that tape devices will always be in an autochanger. This is another factor, along with noise and the poor reliability of tape except in a fully controlled, filtered environment, that is actually pushing me more and more towards a cartridge-drive backup solution such as RDX. (Although RDX has its own problems, starting with the fact that as far as I can tell, *ALL* RDX external drives are USB3, and none of my machines are new enough to have a USB3 port. There does not appear to be any such thing as a SAS external RDX drive. Also, RDX is stupidly expensive for what it is.) -- Phil Stracchino Babylon Communications ph...@caerllewys.net p...@co.ordinate.org Landline: +1.603.293.8485 Mobile: +1.603.998.6958 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot _______________________________________________ Bacula-users mailing list Bacula-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/bacula-users
