Debian Lenny only picked up the changer in /dev/tape/by-id, but /dev/tape/by-path had both tape drives, but the names are horribly long: pci-0000:01:04.0-fc-0x500110a00058bd40:0x0000000000000000-nst-nst pci-0000:01:04.0-fc-0x500110a00058bd40:0x0000000000000000-st pci-0000:01:04.0-fc-0x500110a00058c2f0:0x0000000000000000-nst-nst pci-0000:01:04.0-fc-0x500110a00058c2f0:0x0000000000000000-st The udev rule for the friendly name seems worth the effort for me anyways.
