While trying to set up an autochanger to my existing Bacula configuration, I
run into problem that mtx-changer script can't create a temporary file into
/var/bacula/ directory.

System is FC4, current Bacula version 1.38.10-3. This is propably not the
version vhere the problem originates from (see below)

After some debugging, I think this script is run as bacula:disk (as I
expected), while the directory in question has owner:group of root:bacula,
rights 770.

I find it possible that the current install scripts wouldn't create
/var/bacula directory with the same owner:group. So, if this problem has
already been fixed, my problem is only because of the fact the directory was
created with some old installation. In that case, pls. advice me which
owner:group is used nowadays for /var/bacula?

Another sign of the same problem is (was) file bacula-sd.9103.state that is
written by storage daemon.
It had a timestamp of 6th of May. I can't trace what I've done at that date,
but my best guess is that was the date when I last time have restarted
1.38.4 (logs show it was running earlier the same day) before updating to
1.38.9 (it was used to run the first backup on the 9th of May)

I also have another system, running FC5. /var/bacula has the same
owner:group.
This system seems to be set up in the beginning of February, and the first
version of Bacula that was run there has been 1.38.5
In that system, there is bacula-sd.9103.state file at all.

This gives me a lead the problem could be related to some change made from
1.38.4 to 1.38.5

This isn't a urgent-urgent matter -I just chaged /var/bacula to world
writable (I considered it safe in this environment) to be able to go on with
my other trial and error. And I'll certainly be able to find some more
decent solution to fix my installation, but I guess it there may also be
need to fix something in the install scripts.

Of course, it is possible that something else has changed in my system so
writing to /var/bacula is not any more possible with uig:gid bacula:disk,
but this time my first vote goes for some change in the Bacula.

Regards,
Timo
