Any thoughs on progressing the alternative "dist" rule I proposed so
long ago for those using CVS with their sources?
I really want CVS to be in total control of what's included in the
distribution, not Automake. If there's some way for "distcheck" to
spot and warn about files in the resulting distribution that Automake
doesn't know about then that's good too (but my initial implementation
did not do this).
I also really *really* want to be able to use "cvs export" to create the
distribution so that I can have it properly expand RCS keywords in the
resulting files (i.e. with '-kv' to "freeze" the release).
As a side effect I will note that using "cvs export" to produce the
distribution totally avoids any problems or concerns voiced at the start
of this thread. :-)
