Thanks.  I won't install it as-is.  I'll merge Mo's patch too (since
it would conflict with mine anyway; BTW, Mo, would you please re-post
your patch; I can't find it in my mailbox any more, sorry :-( and
introduce cross_compile=maybe (sorry), then post it to
autoconf-patches for your evaluation.  I'll also update the docs and
INSTALL.

People who specified --host had to specify --build anyway, unless it
was the same as host.

It was intentional, since it's now deprecated.  But I should probably
mention it after the Hint.
