In the spirit of the Linux 2.4 TODO list, I thought I'd raise the question
of what is required before the next autoconf release. We all know that
there have been a significant number of fixes and enhancements in the CVS
sources that many projects would like to benefit from. What needs to be
done before a new release? Can there be a feature freeze soon? Does it
need to be coordinated with an automake release?

Thanks to the autoconf maintainers for doing such a great job. I know
that they are working as fast as they can towards a release; I just think
it would benefit everyone to see where things stand.

Cordially,
Steven G. Johnson
