I don't think your scenario demonstrates you'd waste time to produce
the macros as they should be if they were integrated in Autoconf.
Personally I'd be very happy if you (someone) could try to integrate
Java support in 2.50 knowing that it will be scheduled for another
release anyway, because it would validate (partially, of course) or
invalidate (completely, of course) some deep changes in Autoconf to
support several different languages.
What would be wonderful is an acjava.m4 which would be very much in
the spirit of Autoconf, then it would just be a matter of dispatching
the macros to the proper places. It could be part of the CVS archive
actually. We can also open a branch for you where it would be
enabled.
