Well, you are right, it is new that they are being renamed, before
they were just removed :)

I don't really think they should be: currently the Autoconf
documentation does not document such low level `details'. But we
might start a section for this. Still, I have the strong belief that
you cannot use low level macros for Autoconf without reading the code
itself, so...
Alternatively, someone might want to start a documentation of libm4.
