There is a bootstrap problem with autoconf on CVS:
../autoconf/configure --prefix=/opt/gnu-exp
[...]
creating tests/Makefile
configure: error: cannot find input file `../autoconf/tests/Makefile.in'
=> tests/Makefile.in is missing from CVS.
[BTW: IMO, keeping automake-generated Makefile.ins in CVS is rather
problematic. Instead, I prefer the autogen.sh/bootstrap approach.]
