From: Akim Demaille <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: 25 Feb 2000 12:39:26 +0100 I claim that machines without Bourne shells supporting unset and functions are no longer to be considered. No single guy could name me such a broken machine. I'd really love that we move to functions some day. I'm typing this message right now on a machine for which /bin/sh does not support unset or functions. This machine is my mail and news server, and I use it all the time. It's true that this machine has a shell /bin/sh5 which supports unset. However, /bin/sh5 does not support shell functions. This machine is a DECstation 3100 running Ultrix 4.0. The point of autoconf is portability to all machines, not just to all recent machines. Ian
