Please try:
speaker-test -c8 -Dplughw:0,4

The "0" above is the card number as output from cat /proc/asound/cards

This test bypasses the DSP on the card, and should talk directly to the
speakers.
Another test I would like you to try is in windows.
Select 7.1 speaker arrangement, and try the windows speaker test, and
note down where the sound comes from for each channel.
I assume the current windows test is with 5.1 selected.

What sort of cables are you using for the speakers. Normal stereo jacks,
or Creative's special 3 channel jacks.

The output I actually wanted was the output from the command
"amixer contents"
But, I think what you gave me was good enough for now.
