yes, today it worked for me the very first time (with Version 1.0.0rc2 and no additional action or file):
mplayer -ao alsa9:surround51 -channels 6 dvd://1 gives the right sound from 2x front, 2x rear, center and lfe, the only thing I had to do was changing the plugs of center and lfe (center-plug is in lfe and vise versa, maybe wrong by vendor) Problems are: -center and lfe have no volume control -PCM-control controls both front and rear -Master-control controls only the front speakers with an external amplifier I can live with that.
