hi,
i have just recently switched from the oss drivers to alsa (using the
alsa-packages from debian unstable) for my sb live 5.1 (without live-drive
or any other add-on). installation and configuration worked like a charm,
and playback also works without any problem.
but i have a rather strange (at least to me) mixer problem: i can't find
any way to control the overall "master" volume. i can adjust the volume of
my rear speakers, my front speakers, my center speaker (i'm using 5.1
speakers connected through the three analog outputs of my card), all
seperately. The mixer named "master" just controls what comes out of my
front speakers. what i want is a simple way to adjust the general volume
for wave playback (xmms, xine/mplayer etc.) on all my speakers (like the
oss emu10k1 drivers offered with the "pcm" mixer), and i really tried all
the different mixer controls alsamixer offered me... to no effect.
Is there anything wrong my my setup, or is this a (known) general problem?
