Yes, ALSA is lacking in the user friendly department. > I hope someone can help me with my current issue. This is what happens: > > I would like all output to go through my digital out. Enabling or disabling artsd will have no effect on both Kaboodle or > Noatun. Is artsd in KDE using OSS? If so, try to configure artsd for ALSA. When I press > play again it will hang and I will have to kill XMMS. I don't know why XMMS's OSS output doesn't work. Perhaps it has something to do with OSS emulation and your default .asoundrc spdif config? XMMS's (1.2.8) ALSA output is broken for ice1712/ice1724 cards. It might have something to do with the "Mixer device" definition which doesn't work with these cards. Try alsa-xmms 0.9.12 instead, or dump XMMS and replace it with AlsaPlayer. > Also when I hear the system sounds in KDE they sound distorted at the end. > The sound > files are all ok since they play perfectly in Windows but in Linux they all > sound bad at the > end. Distorted KDE sounds through spdif? ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: The SF.net Donation Program.
