'make install' DID finish without errors? This looks like the modules didn't get installed in /lib/modules/2.4.20-18.19. If you ls -al /lib/modules/2.4.20-18.19/kernel/sound/pci you should find the file snd-via82xx.o, otherwise they didn't install!
