Thought I would attempt to get all the extra functionality of my Fortissimo II sound card working. The sound has been working great for some time. I first started with the microphone about a week ago, I'm still baffled by it. :(

Plenty of info in the archives about muted mics ...etc. I've done just about everything with the mixer to get it to record something, but no luck.

I was wondering if anyone with this card or chipset has got the mic to work ??

It looks like some of the same issues I've been baffled with by the
mixer on my cs46xx - I'll see if my explorations help:

They have thank you.

Simple mixer control 'Capture',0
 Capabilities: cvolume cswitch cswitch-joined
Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right
 Limits: Capture 0 - 15
Front Left: Capture 15 [100%] [off]
Front Right: Capture 15 [100%] [off]

Capture seems to be input gain... on my card, it needs to be set to
"capture" for anything to work, but on yours that doesn't seem to be an
option... Maybe just turning it on will have the same effect?

Simple mixer control 'ADC',0
 Capabilities: volume cswitch cswitch-joined
Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right
Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right
 Limits: 0 - 32767
Front Left: 32767 [100%] Capture [off]
Front Right: 32767 [100%] Capture [off]

This is probably the issue though - this is the Analog-Digital chip, and
if its capture is set to off, nothing will be recordable except stuff
that's already digital.

Turned both of these on and got something recording, hurray. So many different combinations
of things to turn on/off, I must not have hit the right combo. Thanks for the ADC/DAC tip thou,
now that I know they are mandatory for (mic)capture that narrowed the options down somewhat.

Now, I just have to get these other bits working......

Thanks
Darryl
