It looks like some of the same issues I've been baffled with by the
mixer on my cs46xx - I'll see if my explorations help:

> Simple mixer control 'Capture',0
> Capabilities: cvolume cswitch cswitch-joined
> Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right
> Limits: Capture 0 - 15
> Front Left: Capture 15 [100%] [off]
> Front Right: Capture 15 [100%] [off]

Capture seems to be input gain... on my card, it needs to be set to
"capture" for anything to work, but on yours that doesn't seem to be an
option... Maybe just turning it on will have the same effect?

> Simple mixer control 'ADC',0
> Capabilities: volume cswitch cswitch-joined
> Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right
> Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right
> Limits: 0 - 32767
> Front Left: 32767 [100%] Capture [off]
> Front Right: 32767 [100%] Capture [off]

This is probably the issue though - this is the Analog-Digital chip, and
if its capture is set to off, nothing will be recordable except stuff
that's already digital.
