Here is a post I made to alt.os.linux.mandrake to no avail. Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks,
Garvin.
I've installed a Hercules Fortissimo on my machine. I'm also running Mandrake 9.0. Initially I had no joy trying to listen to an audio CD until I went to Mandrake Control Centre and changed the driver from snd-cs46xx to cs46xx.
I'm making the guess that alsa is the preferred audio solution with Mandrake and that the OSS module doesn't quite gel with it. I'm basing this on a quick slocate alsa and it comes back with several directories. I notice a few that are named as follows:
/usr/share/doc/libalsa2-0.9.0 /usr/share/doc/libalsa2-0.9.0/ChangeLog /usr/share/doc/libalsa2-0.9.0/COPYING
so I assume version 0.9 of the drivers are installed.
I downloaded the latest version of the drivers and attempted the quick install outlined on this page:
http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php3?company=Hercules&card=Game+Fortissimo+II&chip=CS4624&module=cs46xx
Now, when I type the line
../configure --with-cards=cs46xx --with-sequencer=yes;make;make install
the configure script spits out the following error:
checking for kernel version... The file /lib/modules/2.4.19-16mdk/build/include/linux/version.h does not exist.
Please, install the package with full kernel sources for your distribution
or use --with-kernel=dir option to specify another directory with kernel
sources (default is /usr/src/linux).
My next line of attack was to attempt an slocate version.h which give the following two candidates:
/usr/include/linux/version.h /usr/include/sound/version.h
How do I go about installing the kernel source?
