Ha, one step further.
Back still back to square one.

I still get the message fm801 module not found.
I did the compile with --with-cards=fb801 as per doc on alsa site.
everything went fine there was no errors or warnings but when I try modprobe with the 
specified module it tells me module not found.
I'm using Red Hat 8.0 with Alsa drivers/lib/utils 0.9.0rc5.

Is this a bug with 0.9.0rc5 ? or redhat ? or am I missing the boat ?
