Hi all!

I don't know if this is a FAQ, but if it is, it's way beyond my Internet
searching abilities :-)

I have a SBLive! card connected through a digital (TOSLink SP/DIF)
output, to one of the digital inputs in my Yamaha receiver. The analog
output of the card (coming from the AC97 codec, I guess) is also
connected to the cheap speakers in my monitor. I'm currently running
Alsa 0.9.0rc3, with Linux 2.4.18.

I'd like to be able to route sound sources separately to the receiver
and the monitor speakers. For example, I'd like to send the CD output
(and only the CD output) to the receiver, while keeping the PCM output
only on the monitor speakers. I already tried with the Open Source
driver and that was easily possible by using the Gemu mixing program
(unfortunately Gemu fails to run when the Alsa driver is loaded).

On the other hand, I haven't had any luck with Alsa. No mather how much
I tinker with the alsamixer controls, I don't seem to be able to control
what is output to the SP/DIF interface. Either I can activate it or
mute it completely, but I have no control on the volume, or on what
sources are sent there. I haven't either found any additional tool that
is able to configure the routing under Alsa.

Is it possible at all to do such routing with Alsa? How could I
accomplish that?

Thanks in advance,

M. S.
