Hi, I have an issue where I get no sound in games. It works ok via aplay, realplayer, dvd ..etc but when playing q3 and rtcw there is no sound. They throw back a couple of errors in thier diagnostics,
for q3: ------- sound initialization ------- /dev/dsp: Broken pipe Could not toggle. ------------------------------------ Sound memory manager started and for rtcw: ------- sound initialization ------- /dev/dsp: Input/output error Could not mmap /dev/dsp ------------------------------------ Sound memory manager started I initially just thought it was the permissions on /dev/dsp, but it doesn't make a difference. I am using a recent cvs version with kernel 2.4.17 and a fortissimo2. Here are my modules: [root@daffy kernel]# lsmod Module Size Used by snd-pcm-oss 36992 0 snd-mixer-oss 9328 0 [snd-pcm-oss] snd-seq-midi 3248 0 (autoclean) (unused) snd-seq-oss 24672 0 (unused) snd-seq-midi-event 3200 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-oss] snd-seq 38128 2 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-oss snd-seq-midi-event] snd-cs46xx 69456 0 snd-pcm 49600 0 [snd-pcm-oss snd-cs46xx] snd-timer 10416 0 [snd-seq snd-pcm] snd-rawmidi 12704 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-cs46xx] snd-seq-device 4032 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-oss snd-seq snd-rawmidi] snd-ac97-codec 22448 0 [snd-cs46xx] snd 26752 0 [snd-pcm-oss snd-mixer-oss snd-seq-midi snd-seq-oss snd-seq-midi-event snd-seq snd-cs46xx snd-pcm snd-timer snd-rawmidi snd-seq-device snd-ac97-codec] soundcore 3984 7 [snd] ppp_async 6512 1 (autoclean) ppp_generic 16832 3 (autoclean) [ppp_async] slhc 4640 1 (autoclean) [ppp_generic] mga 99616 1 agpgart 16448 3 3c59x 25696 1 (autoclean) Anyone had these problems?? Is it just id games or OpenGL games in general? I only have these two games so can't test anything else. any clues? tia darryl _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
