when i try to use alsactl or amixrer, i get the folling messages, resplectively...
alsactl: No soundcards found... The ALSA sound driver was not detected in this system. but i can use kmix or gmix to unmute the volumes and sound works perfectly fine. i found a few references to a similar problem in older posts to the mailing list, but there dind't seem to be any concrete solution. i'd like to be able to use alsactl ro restore mixer settings on bootup rather than manual resetting them everytime. anyone know what's wrong? here's my modules.conf file: pre-install pcmcia_core CARDMGR_OPTS=-f /etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia start alias usb-interface usb-uhci probeall scsi_hostadapter ide-scsi alias eth0 3c59x # alias sound-slot-2 ad1848 # ALSA native device support alias char-major-116 snd options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1 alias snd-card-0 snd-card-cs4236 options snd-card-cs4236 snd_index=0 snd_port=0x534 snd_cport=0x120 snd_mpu_port=-1 snd_fm_port=0x388 snd_irq=5 snd_dma1=0 snd_dma2=1 # OSS/Free setup alias char-major-14 soundcore alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss Zig _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
