That is what a maildrop does. If you set up your inbox-path in your
.pinerc to
#move {imap.fastmail.com/ssl/user=ch...@cwm030.com}INBOX /home/chris/maildrop/in
then all messages will be moved from your INBon in fastmail to your
maildrop/in folder as soon as you open your inbox, and you will be able to
read them immediately without the need to open the maildrop/in folder.
