One of the things that’s picking at my head, in light of Quazie’s “Trivial proposals” proposal, is that the current pending system strongly discourages bugfix and janitorial proposals, which are otherwise some of the easiest proposals for new players to start with. As I said in my ballot, I really like Quazie’s idea. Once we’re completely bored with Shinies, I might want to propose a month or so of open season on pending: allow pending by announcement, full stop. Hopefully that’ll allow us to catch up on rule rot, even if we ultimately don’t figure out how to solve the problem of feeling that shinies spend on pending are wasted if the proposal’s not as good as what someone else might write. > So... To be clear, even though I helped nichdel bring them about, I think Shinies are a deeply flawed system. My fiancé put it best: “inventing money is rude.” I fully intend to un-invent it at some point, if nobody beats me to it - just not yet, because we’re still experimenting with ways of making those flaws more interesting and fun.
