I recommend just using HTML/Javascript, there's nothing here that
really requires an applet.

I suggest:
M=64
P=8
T=32
These sound about right; good justification on the T pegged to
lightspeed
and M.
Points=relative proportion
This differentiates various strategies and gives more shape and
depth
to the game's high-level strategy-space.
Will really affect alliances as well.
Week=faster if possible
This game wants a quick turnaround time, I think.
Week should be max round length, but if all contestants play faster
the contestmaster can/should also play faster.
Two part issue here; how fast can the contestmaster turn things around
versus player speed. One possibility is a fastplay action: "when all
contestants enter or 1 week" but with a penalty to the last person to
play.
This game sounds fun in general. Wonder if we can make a good gui.
I have a gui in a non-web language; never got up to speed on web-based
guis with events graphics (avoided java like plague my whole life) but
it's pretty trivial... maybe I'll look for a trivial java standard
life
implementation and tweak.
