When I wrote the original rules for this round of VCs (building on Voting Tokens of years past), I specifically made them to NOT be a form of currency. Of course, that's been changed, as is standard practice in Agora.

The most important element about VCs, in my not-so-humble opinion, is that the game was extremely quiet for a few years, dating back to (I think) shortly after currencies and points all went away. When I introduced VCs, the game revived as people found ways to use or develop (or manipulate or scam, according to their preference) the VC system.

Just for comparison, here's the mailing list archive sizes for November in the last few years for business and discussion:

Month/year Business Discussion
Nov 2004 78 kB 34 kB
Nov 2005 10 kB 1 kB
Nov 2006 38 kB 28 kB
