Line break in the middle of a word, yes.

       I just went back and checked my local message store;
neither the submission nor the purported distribution
contained the spurious line break,

That's strange. In my copy, the purported distribution distinctly has the
line break. The submission and the text quoted with the voting results
both do not have the line break. The distribution that I'm talking
about is message <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
The character sequence in that region is actually "address \n(es)"
(with a space before the newline). It's a text/plain message, with the
format=flowed option, which is presumably related to the invisible space.

It shows up that way when I do View Message Source, but not
if I view it within the usual message preview window.

It's in the best interests of the game to interpret trivial
differences in whitespace as covered by R754(1). It's also
likely in the best interests of the game to make this
interpretation explicit via legislation.
