If this logic actually worked, no one would commit serious crimes ever. And yet, people do. Maybe the cop shot because he knew people like you would assume he was acting in self-defense no matter what he actually did. This is one reason why it's hard to hold the police accountable for bad behavior: the public gives them too much benefit of the doubt. What the cop did was objectively not self-defense. Shooting a man dead when he is running away and armed with only a taser isn't self-defense. So no ... the cop shot Rayshard because Rayshard was resisting arrest. Arrest for what? For sleeping in his car while drunk. What a silly thing to kill somebody over.
