This is a huge thing thats always pissed me off. DACA kids (all adults now)
have spent over half their life in limbo for political gain. There have
been multiple opportunities to give them resident/citizen status, none of
which were politically beneficial enough to do so. I cant imagine that
life, being nothing but a political pawn, at least the one side is honest
in what they want to do (kick them out) while the other side pats them on
the back for photo ops then kicks them into the gutter. There are less
photos of them now that theyre all grown adults and the pandering
isnt beneficial without a kid in the picture. personal opinion is just take
them all to the swearing in ceremony and be done with it, those that were
gonna do harm already have and are out the rest are just some people, stuck.
It never changes, one side talks about building walls while not really
building much while the other side talks about tearing down the walls as
they continue to build them. In the mean time, real people are stuck.
Theres no reason for it to take 8-11 years to become a citizen, my grampa
came through ellis island, they changed the spelling of his name to be
dicks, and he was a citizen. Nobody has to jump a fence when theres a door
open to the sign up booth.
I come across a lot of "undocumented" in the trades, Most of them have no
interest in citizenship, theyre here to make that coin and take it
back where it has worth.
