I assume some percentage of people in the Gen Z cohort do want to work hard and build a successful career. Imagine you're a new grad hired into a work from home or 2 days at the office company. That's got to be sub optimum. I think the whole Covid work from home thing also relieved the first level managers of actually doing their job - managing people. Or is that done by AI now?
Article seems to say after a couple years of just griping about it, bosses are starting to fire the non performers. So what were the bosses doing until now to earn their pay? Oooooh, firing people is hard! With newbies you also need to do feedback and mentoring, because according to the article, colleges aren't preparing them for the world of work. And if these companies have accumulated a bunch of worthless employees with bad attitudes, that's going to rub off on impressionable newbies. Honestly, that kind of happened to me at my first job after college.
