Lowering your hold timer to 45s with 15s keep alive is a quick solution to no BFD, I've not had any issues with that. Taking a default route and full tables will keep you up while you reconverge. You can always filter the full table down if you don't want all of it. Make sure you run 7.8+ on software & firmware, that's the latest version that doesn't seem to have the reboot bug.
