They changed the hardware so they, in not ALL cases, are not v6 compatible
anymore.

This is mostly due to parts shortages.

I think even some of the v6 compatible routers are now shipping on v7 only hw

I feel like RouterOS V7 is the crux of the "ship first test later" attitude
that MikroTik sometimes shows.

The RB4011 semi-freezes were a rare problem (bad for people who riskily used
them at tower sites, hopefully no one did that...). Forum posts suggest that
those issues were fixed through software updates.
The CCR2004 random reboots were a bigger issue due to their more core place in
infrastructure. Forum posts suggest that those problems have been reduced
through software updates but still exist. Given that CCR2116 and CCR2216 share
similar Annapurna Labs CPUs, their stability is in question.

But those cases pale in comparison to the many V7 issues "OSPF is just
decoration" "BGP? Who needs that working?" etc. These would be somewhat
acceptable on non-shipping software, but V7 is required on most of the newer
routers.

Once v7 gets to a point where it's not so problematic that 2116 will be great.
I'd rather stick with older stuff/v6 than have customers complaining about mid
day reboots.

Thanks. I didn't even know that model existed! Pretty cool. We just need a
small form factor for some of our towers. Pretty sure my guy checked a few
models that were all not in stock. I'll keep that model in mind though!

Depends on what you need, you may need to modify what you need to what you can
get 😊 Just a FYI. We have quite a few people who used to buy 4011s now buying
2116s etc, just cause we have stock. Keep in mind that larger is ok, just
smaller is not. 😊

We called - you couldn't get anything until Sept that we needed. But thanks
for checking in Dennis!

Kinda depends on what you are looking for and you timeline.

There’s quite a bit of Cambium in stock in the channel. Lots of some UBNT
stock and none of a lot of SKUs. Tik is mostly backordered on the most popular
switches and routers.

Some manufacturers like Adtran and Tarana work allocation to try and keep
people moving.

If you plan ahead, it’s not that bad mostly.

So the sales at packetflux have been very much more volatile this year. Like
we'll go fairly long stretches with few sales, then a blast of orders will come
through. On average we're doing pretty much as expected but on the short term
it swings from "how are we ever going to make all of this stuff" to "I hope the
orders pick back up since we don't have any more room to store stock". Like I
said, we're doing fine on average, it's just that I'm curious what is driving
this odd ordering pattern

I have talked to a couple of customers and it seems like this might be a side
effect of the way WISPs order stuff nowadays, and also shortages from other
(radio) vendors. For instance, I would expect that if a WISP can't get radios
for their towers they also aren't going to be ordering PoE injectors for the
nonexistent radios. I also know that a lot of people have moved to "order
several months at once" instead of "order as you go".

So I'm curious what everyone is seeing or doing from the WISP viewpoint.
