They AI-9s are pretty good only issue I have with them is the having to have the app installed on a phone for some of the necessary functions. The app has some cool functionality, but I tend to like less complicated basic stuff. If your not doing any SOCs "Splice on connectors I recommend the DVP-740. Its a Chinese clone of a Fugikura you can find them on aliexpress for around $800 shipped. If your doing SOCs then the Orientek T44 both surprisingly come with descent cleavers. These are very basic function splicers.

Buy a better cleaver. The splicing is easy if the cleaves are good.
