My hero was Bob Widlar, who retired to Puerto Vallarta at age 33. I seem to
remember companies like National Semiconductor would pay him as a consultant
for occasional ideas scribbled on bar napkins.

Our neighbor Larry Brent moved to Panama three years ago. He has a real nice
place by a beach...he is a ladies man so he is having a great time. He had to
adjust from El Paso Spanglish to Panamanian style.

He rents his house in case he decides to come back but loves the weather, his
bike rides and the food. Doesn't hurt that he retired a millionaire from sale
of his business ..

My sister lived in Panama when she worked for one of those three letter
guvement agencies as a forensic accountant ...she liked it except for
humidity...

I used to be an optimist. Now I'm a realist. Just glad I'm close to
retirement. If I can still stand to for another 5 years, I'll continue to
work. If not, I'll find a beach in Mexico or Belize or some other laid back
central American country that welcomes expats and spend the rest of my days
watching waves and the cute margarita delivery girls.

I am over it. I am an optimist and it is all good. I love America and really
all the other nations I have visited. However they eat far too much meat in
the Balkins.

If I want to witness Americans bickering with other Americans I can look at any
Covid post or local tv channel post or any anti vaxer post or any political
post and see a bunch of snowflake crybabies from both sides trashing each
other. I’m pretty tired of it from both sides. Too me it seems like there is
so much division and both sides are so entrenched in their belief that the
other side is fabricating stories. Maybe at this point the only way to
coexist is as two separate countries. Honestly I don’t see either side
“getting over it”

There was a period of Lent that lasted for more than 3 years. But I think we
are mostly behaving ourselves ( all but Steve). Like to continue without
restrictions if we can. We can always invoke Lent again but I am hoping it
will not be needed.

My brothers are in the Trump camp. They thought he was a liar and an asshole,
but voted for him anyway because they've bought into the "Democrats are
communists" story. They're not crying as such, but they are experiencing an
undue amount of anger. It's not actually funny to poke at them. None of the
right-wing hate memes are funny either, but nobody is actually posting those on
this list.

We're all grown-assed adults here.
