Probably related to why they don’t want to just give all Covid-19 patients Dexamethasone, which suppresses the immune response. Covid kills some people by triggering an immune system over reaction, but suppress it, and then other stuff can kill you.
And yes, overuse of antibiotics is a big problem, both in medical practice, and other areas like agriculture. But solving that problem is difficult, because the people who die from the resulting antibiotic resistant superbugs are not the same as the people misusing the antibiotics.
