It's beginning to look like they actually have the 50 Mbps for $50 T-Mobile Home Internet, I see other places where they talk about typical speeds being 25 Mbps. Unclear if there is no data cap, or if its gets "deprioritized" when you use too much in a month, or at peak usage times, or relative to mobile users, or is truly unlimited data. The mobile industry usually takes some liberties when advertising speeds and with the term "unlimited data".
I talked with a computer tech who has a T-Mobile tower literally in his back yard, he said he got 25 Mbps speed and had a 50 GB/mo data allocation. I assumed he has a mobile hotspot, but maybe it's this. If T-Mobile/Sprint markets this heavily in exurban and rural areas, it could cause a lot of trouble for WISPs. Especially if they are marketing it as a bundle with an alternative to cable and satellite TV, including local channels. I find the high cost of DISH and DirecTV satellite Internet is the major thing driving customer decisions these days. I did a Google search and found a service called TVision which launched a year ago and was based on T-Mobile's acquisition of Layer3 TV. But the articles from April 2019 talked about it using your existing wired broadband. I still see traffic on this customer's connection, so I am wondering if he has really switched to T-Mobile Internet. Does this T-Mobile TV service come with its own Internet? And is that whole house Internet, or just for the IPTV service?
