It seems to only work from the ethernet side on SMs. I tried it on a link between two of our towers (I have access to Mikrotiks on both ends of the link), and I can mac-telnet to the SM from the Mikrotik that's local to it, but I can't on the one on the other end of the link. The AP works from both Mikrotiks.
Also, I think mac-telnet was a fairly recent addition, 3.3 probably doesn't support it.
