hi Thida, commtimeout value 600 is not a recommended value but it seems to work for most of the customers. I've seen some customers set it to much higher values. It all depends on how full your database is. If it has a lot of NULL blocks, 600 might not be enough. If you are performing incremental backup and your database doesn't change much, RMAN will be spending a lot of time scanning through data blocks to find changed blocks and again 600 might not be enough for this case either. :}
This value doesn't affect the performance at all. All it is used for is to disconnect a client from the server if a client session is inactive for the specified amount of time. So setting to a higher value should be OK. regards, Thiha >Actually at first I just increase from 60 to 120 but after a while >it was happen again...so now I've make it to be 240 just afraid that it >might effect some things..e.g.performance... > So does that means for RMAN it's recommended to be 600? If yes then >I'll better change it again before it happen again..:) >regards, >Thida Chintawongvanich >SAP Infrastructure Support Team (SITI-ISPS/31) >Shell Information Technology International Sdn., Bhd.
