I don't see why should we do tricks like that. We have support for private namespaces, why should we make the linux code even more complicated?
Some of us use systems other than Linux. Also, it may be easier to sell one idea (v9fs) than two ideas (v9fs + private name spaces). It seems that people who have used UNIX for a long time have a natural aversion to the latter.
