I wonder if it would be worth adding a (toggleable?) forward error correction (FEC) [1] scheme to the 'zfs send' stream. Even if we're talking about a straight zfs send/recv pipe, and not saving to a file, it'd be handy as you wouldn't have restart a large transfer for a single bit error (especially for those long initial syncs of remote 'mirrors').
