STEC only sells to OEMs at this time. From past discussions on this list, I think the only dependable SSD alternative are devices based on the SandForce SF-1500 controller: http://www.google.com/search?q=SandForce+SF-1500 For all other products, there are question of the devices respecting SYNC commands (i.e., not lying about them), and issues with the lack of supercaps.
