I have a question, in response to this question. For everyone else here to answer, other than Daniel. ;-) For a newbie such as the above, does some other distribution have an easier setup? Would you recommend Opensolaris, or one of the various derivative distributions? I've never looked at those distros; I don't know what they're designed for. Would you recommend something like FreeNAS? I don't know what Daniel's opinion would be, but a lot of people asking similar questions might prefer not to learn about opensolaris, and simply have a drop-in appliance with simple gui configuration. I never looked myself, because that's not attractive to me.
