This was the conclusion I came to. I'm also on the hunt for some decent consumer-priced drives for use in a ZFS RAID setup, and I created a thread to try to find which ones people recommend. See here: http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=121871 So far, I'm inclined to think that the Samsung HD154UI 1.5TB, and possibly the Samsung HD203WI 2TB drives might be the most reliable choices at the moment, based on the data in that thread and checking user reports.
