Try send/receive to the same host (ssh localhost). I used this when trying send/receive as it removes ssh between hosts "problems" The on disk format of ZFS has changed there is something about it in the man pages from memory so I don't think you can go S10 -> OpenSolaris without doing an upgrade, but I could be wrong!
