Perhaps some considerations should be given to create those documents with OpenOffice.org or StarOffice/StarSuite. Starting version 9, StarOffice/StarSuite will have the ability to produce pdf files in pdf/odf hybrid format. This is another strong ncentive to use StarOffice/StarSuite.
