Hmm, nothing interesting seemed to happen:

$ ghc-pkg check -v
using cache: /home/tim/.ghc/x86_64-linux-7.0.2/package.conf.d/
package.cache
using cache: /usr/lib64/ghc-7.0.2/package.conf.d/package.cache

Retrying the install after this still gives me the same errors.

I installed ghc / cabal in order to try out yi, so I'm happy to
completely remove any existing packages if that would help (I don't
know how to though).
