Lack of modes. I can live without many of the more advanced Emacs features such 
as multi-tty, but I need syntax highlighting for various languages like sh (all 
my rc files, practically, are sh-like). Also, the variables headers Emacs 
support are useful (for example, many of my rc files include the line '# -*- 
mode: shell-script; -*-' which keeps my .emacs down).
