This message is misleading: '@' is a perfectly valid ASCII character (it has ASCII value 0x40). Spaces are also ASCII, but validate_slug rejects them, too. Since this message is shown when validate_slug rejects the user- entered value, a more appropriate message might be: "The security group name must contain only letters, numbers, underscores and hyphens." ... this text having been blatantly ripped off the Django documentation on validate_slug.
