Hi Fritz,
for performance you have to take into account that the applications ( not the OS) have been updated and they probably demand more memory.
How old is your pc/laptop?

the main problem with xubuntu is the community " support "
and all the propaganda how low the resources requirement

" that it will work on any old pc a lot better then windows "

compared to what windows ?
a linux being in the last century ?

so the greatest problem being ...
that it apparently does not work with
any usb  mobile broad band device

so being worthless for any one
depending on such an internet connection

one more problem is the need for this terminal use
I have been using fortran in 1978 with scientific calculators
have worked with a  cad computer in 1986
using coordinate pcb development

but today we have windows
making things a lot easier ... faster

but with linux ?
still  using scripts for the general user !

some thing windows does not require
since window became windows

I want to concentrate on working  !
not on the computer

does any one see ?
what I am talking about ?

I have been using Linux (xubuntu and fedora) for home and work for the past 5 years and they are not a toy ;-)

and you do not even read what I have been writing ?
just parts of it ?

Regards,
Michele

no ...
this is not bad luck !
but simply a good possibiliy

from my experience
having tried knoppix
slax ... Q4OS and now xubuntu

all those are miles away from
even windows xp etc

being just for some one
having nothing to do

but playing around
with his new toy ....

linux being a great idea !
but the realization ?

pure frustration ....

Here a disappointing experience: upgraded to 18.04 last weekend. Felt pleasant.
Today hiccups with video streaming, slow Firefox and Thunderbird.
The inevitable warning about an error.
Would not shut down.
Unplugged.
Restarted. Password not recognized.

Reinstalling 16.04

Is this just bad luck?

Best regards
